At HEATDRY Clothing, sustainability is at the heart of our production process and product choices. We strive to keep the carbon footprint of our clothing as small as possible, without compromising on quality and performance. A key aspect of this is our use of materials that are both sustainable and animal-friendly.
We use as little animal material as possible. The cotton padding used in our insulating garments, such as gloves and socks, is synthetic and carefully selected to provide the same thermal insulation properties as natural cotton, without relying on animal products. This helps us minimise our impact on animal welfare, while still providing our customers with high-quality thermal comfort.
Although we consider materials such as leather in some cases, we only choose animal leather when it really adds value in terms of durability, wear resistance and functionality. In most cases, we prefer artificial leather, which today is increasingly sophisticated and offers similar performance to animal leather, but without the ethical and environmental concerns. Only when it is really necessary and significantly improves the quality of the product do we opt for animal leather, carefully ensuring that it is obtained ethically.
We are also committed to using recycled and renewable materials. Wherever possible, we integrate recycled synthetic fibres into our products, such as polyester derived from recycled plastic bottles. This helps us reduce waste and use raw materials more efficiently. One of our core principles is to extend the lifespan of our products. By using high-quality and sustainable materials, we ensure that our garments last longer, leading to less waste and less need for replacement. This dovetails perfectly with our commitment to a circular economy, where products are designed with reuse and recycling in mind.
Finally, we are continuously improving our production processes to minimise waste of materials and energy. We do this by working with suppliers who share the same values on sustainability, and who help us make environmentally friendly choices at every step of production. Through this approach, we aim to contribute to a cleaner and more responsible fashion industry, without compromising on the functionality and quality our customers can rely on.
Not only in our products, but also in our logistics, we actively seek sustainable solutions. To ship our parcels, we work with DPD, a logistics partner at the forefront of making their delivery services more sustainable. DPD has been committed to offsetting CO2 emissions since 2012 and has ambitious goals to reduce their impact on the environment.
Their approach is twofold: on the one hand, they invest in CO2 reduction projects, such as renewable energy sources and forest conservation; on the other, they focus on making their own means of transport more sustainable. For example, DPD is actively working on the electrification of their fleet and is deploying more and more electric vehicles for parcel delivery. Electric buses and bicycles are already in use in many cities, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and noise pollution in urban areas. Their goal is to offer completely emission-free deliveries in more than 225 cities by 2025. In addition, DPD uses smart route planning technology to increase the efficiency of their deliveries and minimise the number of kilometres driven, yielding further CO2 reductions.
DPD is also involved in numerous innovative projects aimed at reducing their carbon footprint. For example, they are investing in the development of new delivery methods, such as electric cargo bikes, and experimenting with micro-hubs in city centres, allowing delivery drivers to complete their routes more efficiently. By working with a partner like DPD, we make sure your parcel is delivered in the most environmentally friendly way possible. So chances are your parcel will be delivered by a zero-emission electric bus!
